🛡 How to spot scammers before it's too late?

We’re kicking off a new series under the #safety hashtag, where we’ll break down common scam tactics and how to avoid them. Our goal is to help you stay one step ahead of scammers 🛡

Let’s start with a classic trick: You get a message from a friend asking for a quick favor or opportunity — like to vote for them in a contest or enter a giveaway. They even send you a convenient link. You click, and a familiar Telegram login page pops up, asking for your phone number, login code, and two-step verification password. Seems normal, right? 👏

Wrong. The moment you enter your details, they go straight to a scammer. There’s no contest, no giveaway — just a trap designed to steal your Telegram account 🫵

How it works: Scammers create fake login pages that look exactly like the real thing. Once you enter your credentials, they gain full access to your account.

They won’t always act immediately. Some scammers quietly browse your chats, looking for sensitive info — passwords (which you probably store in your Saved Messages), private messages, anything useful. They can use this information to access your social media, email and financial accounts or sell your data to other scammers. Once they’ve found what they need, they’ll log you out and take over, sending your contacts the same message that they originally sent to you. That's exactly how your friend got caught, which helps spread the scam across communities 🐈‍⬛

How to stay safe:

● Never enter your Telegram login details anywhere except the official apps.
● If you’re already logged in to the web app, you shouldn’t be asked to log in again. If a website asks for your credentials, leave immediately.
● Avoid storing passwords in Saved Messages. It’s not a secure place for sensitive information.

Following these simple rules will help you avoid this type of scam. Stay safe 🛡

😏 Did Support contact you first? Something doesn’t seem right

We’re continuing our #safety series to help you identify scammers and protect yourself.

Let’s say you’re looking to sell some of your TON, so you open the P2P Market and see a great offer — its price is 20% higher than the market average 🤑

You can check the price of nearly any coin on CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko.

The buyer has a low rating and few trades, but you proceed anyway — after all, they’re offering 20% more than the market price!

Each profile on the P2P Market shows the user’s number of transactions and their rating.

The buyer instantly accepts the trade and messages you: “Hey, I’ve sent the money”. You check your banking app, but find nothing. Then, a message pops up saying that an appeal has been opened for your order 🫵

Before you even realize what's going on, you get a message from an account named "Wallet Support" asking you to confirm your recent transaction. They convince you that you need to share some of your account details in order to receive the payment — like your Telegram login code, password, etc.

Remember, Wallet Support will never DM you first.

What happens next?

After some thinking, you decide to share your details (fatal mistake). By doing so, you have given the scammers full access to your Telegram account, which they can use to remotely log you out and prevent you from regaining access 😳

How does this work? Your Telegram account is tied to your phone number. If it’s listed as a payment method, scammers can contact you directly.

How to protect yourself:

● Block anyone who contacts you first and claims to be Wallet Support. We never message first — and are only available via @wallet_supportbot

● Never share your login details with anybody. Neither Telegram Support nor Wallet Support will ever ask for these.

● You can make your account impossible for strangers to find via Telegram Settings → Privacy and Security → Phone Number (set to Nobody) → Who Can Find Me By My Number.

🥋 Someone offering profits from reselling? It might be a scam

As part of our #safety series, we’re breaking down popular scam tactics to help you stay protected. Today’s topic: a crypto reselling scam.

When you send a message in a Telegram group, your profile becomes visible to other chat participants. Imagine you post something — and almost instantly a stranger messages you privately with a tempting offer to make money through insider crypto pumping.

This kind of crypto “pump” is a coordinated effort to suddenly increase a token’s price, usually set up by insiders who coordinate to sell off or “dump” their investments together and disappear with the profits. Such schemes are also illegal in many countries 🚫

The stranger tells you how you will make quick, guaranteed money by buying a specific token alongside other “participants”. The idea is to artificially increase the token’s price and sell it for a profit while the price is high. If you agree, they add you to a private group with a "mentor" and several “investors”, who all share impressive screenshots of their earnings.

The mentor then tells you they’ve already set up a special trading account for you that they will “manage” and asks you to make a small deposit. Once you send the money, they show you screenshots with your “growing profit”. The mentor then encourages you to invest even more, saying the bigger your investment, the higher the price will climb. He also promises to transfer your profits right after the sale 💰

Excited, you send a larger amount. Immediately the mentor vanishes, and you’re kicked out of the group chat.

What actually happened? The scammers controlled the trading account the entire time. The private chat was just a well-orchestrated performance. As soon as you send a significant amount, the scammers will disappear with your funds and delete all traces of communication 😬

How to protect yourself:

● If someone promises easy money with no risk, it’s always a scam.
● Keep in mind: participating in pump and dump schemes is illegal in many countries.
● Never hand over control of your accounts or funds to third parties, “asset managers” or “financial gurus”.
● If a random person asks you to chat with a “mentor” or move to an unfamiliar website, it’s probably a scam.
