Венедиктов штучно намагається звести проблему до гуманітарної, а не до злочину агресії чи окупації. Так само як кремль виправдовує вторгнення під соусом «захисту рускагаварясчіх», Венедиктов повторює цю ж думку, але просто використовує інші слова.

Росіянин використовує в даному випадку «whataboutism» — штучне та свідоме вирівнювання агресора та жертви, в контексті нібито обидві сторони не хочуть миру, «забуваючи» при цьому, що одна країна веде загарбницьку війну, а інша - захищається. Це прям класика з книжок кгб та холодної війни

Ключові наративи від кремля: «Часу мало, тому треба форсувати», «Він розуміє, що його час обмежений… Тому бомбить і прискорює»

Знову підміна понять. Венедиктов займається легітимацією війни як необхідного вибору. Теза «він мусить», на думку старого чекіста, має приховати, що вторгнення рф в Україну - це результат свідомого імперіалістичного курсу.

Венедиктов знову хоче зробити чорне білим. Слідкуйте за руками:

Не кривавий російський тиран, а «президент рф під тиском» = винен не він, а ті, хто тиснуть = винні США та Європа у вторгненні росіян, а не рф. Геббельс, виходь, блять

Далі полковник венедиктов намагається протиставити «велику Америку» «нікчемній Європі» - «путіну вже немає діла до європейців… Хто у них президент? І що він вирішує?»

Маніпуляція в тому, шо «хароший рускій» відверто дискредитує Європу як політичний суб’єкт. Подається це венедиктовим ніби як думка путіна, але справжній ефект — просування тези, що ЄС — безсилий, а США — єдина гідна сторона переговорів.

Епілог. Товаріщ вєнєдіктов не давав інтерв’ю насправді. Він, використовуючи іноземні ЗМІ, просував відверті московські тези про те, що

Кремль — складна структура з багатьма страхами, але не агресор.

Вихід — тільки «заморожування» і капітуляція України на умовах росії

Обидві сторони однаково не хочуть миру.

Європа не має значення.

США — головний гравець, але хаос — вигідніший за порядок.

Путін діє не з позиції зла, а з позиції історичної місії.

Україна — не самостійний суб’єкт, а частина гри між США та рф.

Cables and ships. An essay on European eggs

Since October 2023, at least 11 submarine cables have been damaged in the Baltic Sea, with similar damage reported in the North Sea

According to The Telegraph, NATO military leaders have been warned after a series of suspected Russian attacks on submarine cables. Telecoms companies including Vodafone, Telefonica, owner of O2, and Orange have written to UK, EU and NATO officials warning that the increase in sabotage attacks is putting essential services at risk.

In the open letter, they wrote: "The consequences of damage to undersea cables extend far beyond Europe, potentially affecting global internet and energy infrastructure, international communications, financial transactions and vital services around the world." The decision follows a spate of incidents involving fibre-optic cables on the seabed, which carry huge amounts of data, voice and internet traffic between countries. Around 95 per cent of all international data is carried by more than 500 cables, but their remote locations make monitoring difficult and expensive.

Since October 2023, at least 11 submarine cables have been damaged in the Baltic Sea, and similar disruptions have been reported in the North Sea. These incidents have heightened fears of sabotage, as more than 50 Russian ships have been spotted in areas with high cable density in the Baltic Sea. The UK is monitoring the Russian spy ship Yantar, concerned that it is mapping critical underwater infrastructure. Chinese sabotage is also a concern after a series of incidents near Taiwan.

In January, Defence Secretary John Healey called the disruptions "yet another example of growing Russian aggression. I also want President Putin to get this message: we see you, we know what you're doing, and we will not back down from taking decisive action to defend this country." Members of the Joint Committee on National Security Strategy have launched an investigation into the UK's ability to protect its undersea infrastructure from attack.

Matt Western, chairman of the committee, said: "As the geopolitical environment deteriorates, foreign powers are looking for asymmetric solutions to put us at risk. Our cable internet network is looking like an increasingly vulnerable soft underbelly." In the letter, the telecoms groups said network security was a "top priority", arguing that the diversity of infrastructure would allow traffic to be rerouted in the event of an incident and that countries have the ability to act quickly to repair cables. But they warned that an increase in malicious attacks by hostile actors means governments must step up their security measures.

Comment. It seems that Europe has realised that there are no accidents when it comes to Russians or the presence of Russians. It's good that not all the cables have been cut by the Katsaps. At least for now.

This is the only way it works. Anything else is seen by the Russians as weakness. The recipe for maintaining the integrity of the underwater infrastructure is simple:

Capture a vessel of the "shadow fleet".

To fire at a Russian vessel that "just approached" means to show that you see, know, will no longer tolerate the feat of impudence and are ready to accept the consequences. All other actions for Russia are weakness

Concerns, summoning ambassadors, official statements from government officials, convening the UN Security Council - this is not something that the Russians will respond to and stop (become more cautious).

Force and only brute force, which will threaten trespassers or attempts to trespass-approach places with critical infrastructure = integrity of submarine cables and borders in general.

Let me give you an example. After the shooting down of a Russian aircraft over Turkish skies in 2015, the Russians have never violated the airspace again. Let me remind you that the Turkish authorities stated that the Russian plane had been in its skies for 17 seconds, but that was enough time to make a decision

The same should happen to any ship that switches off its transponder and does not respond to coastguard attempts to contact it when it is in close proximity or is heading to a place where there is a chance of damaging underwater cables

And this is not an escalation, no. In fact, this is the only solution that works in relation to Russia. Because if the Russians are not stopped in time, they will expand the scope of what is permissible and will continue to do so until they receive a real rebuff in the form of a tough and uncompromising decision

Moral. If you are not ready to capture, drive away, and fire at a ship that can send your country back to the Stone Age, you are no longer an independent state. You have given the keys to your country to Moscow and you are living in this country until the Russians come to kick you out

Your country is occupied. But you don't want to notice this on principle, because you are more concerned with escalation or with the occupier asking you to politely give him your country
