#JICA President Tanaka met @WEF President @borgebrende. They exchanged views on the compounding crises and agreed to strengthen their partnership to tackle global challenges.

Progress so far on the SDGs is nowhere near where it needs to be. Just 12 percent of the targets are on track, almost one-half are off-track, and more than one-third are either failing to advance, or worse regressing. We really need to change course.

In my meeting today with @NOIweala at @WTO with the help of @PMEgypt_Geneva, we had a discussion around the role of trade in the transition to a global low-carbon economy and more sustainable societies. Tariffs are one tool for governments to send the price signals to the market.
